57 Pakistanis freed, Indians return today

Amritsar, December 22
It was a day of mixed fortunes at Wagah joint check-post today. While Indian authorities handed over as many as 57 Pakistani nationals to Pakistani authorities through the land route, it was a day of huge disappointment for the family members of the Indian prisoners, including a prisoner of war (POW), who had thronged Wagah from far-flung places for the happy reunion. Pakistan, however, did not repatriate any Indian national, as promised earlier, due to some technical reasons. Now, they were expected to cross over to India tomorrow.
