Kot-Bhalwal jail riot leaves 36 injured

Jammu, December 17 Fifteen policemen and 21 terrorists from Pakistan and Afghanistan were injured in day-long clashes, teargassing and lathi-charge by the police to quell violence inside the high-security jail at Kot-Bhalwal on the outskirts of the city here today.

India, China ink MoU on oil exploration
New Delhi, December 17
India and China today signed a Memorandum of Understanding for strategic cooperation in oil exploration and production (E&P) activities in other countries. The MoU was signed by Petroleum Minister Murli Deora and National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China Chairman Ma Kai at Beijing.

GCM acquits Colonel in sexual assault case
Chandigarh, December 17
A general court martial (GCM) trying a Colonel for allegedly sexually assaulting a lady officer of his unit has acquitted him of all charges faced by him. The trial concluded at Tibri near Gurdaspur today.
