Molestation: CFSL says photo doctored
Our High Court Correspondent

Chandigarh, December 15
The controversy over the alleged incident of molestation of women veterinarian protesters at a rally in Ludhiana on September 21 took a new turn today.

A report prepared by the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) here concluded that the picture carried by a national daily, showing the hand of a Punjab police inspector inside the shirt of a woman protester, was the result of image alteration and grafting.

In his report, prepared after the examination of the video recording and still photographs of the incident, CFSL joint scientific officer Dr C.P. Singh said there were “indications of image alteration”.

“The image of the red-blue turban and facial image of the woman above it are indicated to have been grafted to the disputed photograph marked exh-2, producing an illusion so as the image of the back of arm (dorsal aspect) looked objectionable”, the report said.

The task given to the CFSL by the Ludhiana police was to examine the integrity of the photograph.

During resumed hearing of the suo moto matter as well as a PIL filed by the World Human Rights Protection Council (WHRPC) in the matter, the Punjab advocate-general today informed the court about the findings of the CFSL.

The Bench headed by chief justice Vijender Kumar Jain told the Punjab government to file a replication in this regard along with the report.
