NDA seeks no business amid din
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, December 11
NDA leaders today sought an assurance from Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee to prevent the government from conducting official business in Parliament amid din and noise, barring compelling circumstances.

A meeting between the NDA leaders and the Speaker was held to lift the Opposition’s boycott of Business Advisory Committee meeting presided over by Mr Chatterjee over the alleged feeling among the Opposition MPs that they were not getting a fair deal in the Lok Sabha.

The NDA leaders led by Leader of the Opposition L.K. Advani had earlier held a meeting with the Speaker wherein the two sides expressed their concerns and the matter looked as if it had been resolved.

But with the NDA insisting on an assurance that the government wasn’t allowed to hurry through official business when the House was not in order, it might take more time to arrive at a resolution.
