Mandi Ahmedgarh, November 21
Two undertrial criminal brothers made a daring escape from police custody at Latala village after chopping off a hand of a policeman and stabbing another. The policemen were taking them back to the Central Jail after a court hearing at Baranala.

The accused are being tried for allegedly robbing a number of banks and private traders in this belt of Malwa.

According to Mr R.K. Jaiswal, SSP Jagraon, the accused who were being taken to Ludhiana in a private bus, persuaded the policemen, Rajpal Singh and Lashkar Singh, to alight at Raikot bus stand on the pretext that their mother was waiting there. They later impressed them to visit their home at Latala village. The policemen were attacked by at least three accomplices of the accused who were already present at their house.

Both policemen suffered multiple injuries on various parts of the body and one hand of Lashkar Singh was chopped off.
