Ropar, November 19
The Punjab Governor’s love for fishing kept the administration and police officials on their toes for about six hours here today. Gen S.F. Rodrigues (retd), along with his wife Jean Rodrigues, reached the water headworks at 5.30 am. However, luck was not on their side as after an hour’s wait they managed to catch just one fish.

The place selected for fishing was the prohibited area just in front of the headworks, which regulate the Sutlej water, but he had the permit from the Irrigation Department. The Governor and Ms Rodrigues were busy fishing while senior officials were worried about their safety. It was their third trip to the water headworks.

Interestingly, a number of policemen, senior officials, doctors and divers had been deployed along the banks of the Sutlej since 4 a.m.
