Ambala, November 1
Two medical students including an Ambala-based doctor’s son were kidnapped in Bangalore.

While one of the medical students had been let off yesterday morning, the doctor’s son is yet to be released by the kidnappers.

The two students — Bhupinder hailing from Panipat and Yugam from Ambala Cantt — were kidnapped on the night of October 26. They are studying at a medical college located on the Bangalore-Mangalore highway. Bhupinder is a close relative of a senior Indian National Lok Dal leader.

Ambala Cantt-based doctor V. Chopra learnt about his son Yugam’s kidnapping by a phone call. The kidnappers are believed to have demanded a sum of Rs 1 crore as ransom. The family has requested the kidnappers to scale down the amount.

Yesterday, when Yugam’s family members learnt that Bhupinder had been let off, they were hopeful that he too would be freed soon. But that was not to be.

As a matter of fact, the kidnappers have stopped communicating with them and that has increased the anxiety level among the family members.

It has been learnt that Bhupinder sustained a fracture on the night of the kidnapping when his motorcycle was hit by the vehicle in which the kidnappers were travelling.

Bhupinder was let off by the kidnappers at Damangiri which is at a six hours drive from their college.
