Soldier shoots Army officer

Srinagar, October 31
A senior Indian Army officer was shot dead by an enraged soldier in an Army camp near Srinagar this afternoon.

The victim, identified as Lt-Col Saxena of 28 Rashtriya Rifles, died on the spot in the camp at Harwan near the Dachigam National Park on the outskirts of this Jammu and Kashmir summer capital. “The irate soldier fired indiscriminately from his service rifle at Lt-Col Saxena who succumbed to his bullet wounds before he could be evacuated to a hospital,” a police officer here said. — IANS
