Byelections on October 30

New Delhi, October 1
The Election Commission on Thursday announced the byelection for the Vidisha parliamentary seat in Madhya Pradesh and four Assembly seats on October 30.

The Lok Sabha byelections in Madhya Pradesh will be an acid test for Ms Uma Bharti, who was expelled from the BJP for anti-party activity.

All focus will be on the Vidisha seat, vacated by Mr Shivraj Singh Chouhan after he was made the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister.

Interesting contest is expected as former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti, former Delhi Chief Minister Sushma Swaraj and Mr Varun Gandhi, son of Ms Maneka Gandhi, are eyeing the seat. — TNS
