Woman official of Belgian Embassy stabbed to death

New Delhi, September 24
A woman official of the Belgian Embassy was reportedly stabbed to death by her driver at her South Delhi residence, the police said today.

The driver, identified as Vijay Pal Choudhary, is absconding. The police is conducting raids in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh to nab him. His description has also been flashed to all police stations and border check-posts. Strongly built, 5’-9” tall, 35-year-old Vijay lived at Kotla Mubarakpur.

Senior police and Belgian Embassy officials visited the spot to ascertain facts in the case. The Belgian Embassy is being kept informed of developments in the case.

Isabelle Dessoy, 40, an official in the economic wing of the mission, was reportedly stabbed 22 times late last night allegedly by Vijay following an altercation.

She was staying with her 13-year-old son, a student of a French school, who had gone out to the market with his friends at the time of the incident. Her husband is in Belgium.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) Ravindra Yadav said the seriously injured victim had called her son on the phone immediately after the incident and he informed the police. But by the time the police reached the spot, her condition had deteriorated and she was rushed to Safdarjung Hospital where she was declared brought dead.
