Flood damage in Pulwama worth Rs 150 crore
Srinagar, September 7 Kashmir Divisional Commissioner Basharat Ahmad said initial assessment put damage worth Rs 14,007.77 lakh in Pulwama. The figure includes damage to houses estimated at Rs 250 lakh, damage to crop/fruits (Rs 11,020 lakh), damage to livestock (Rs 25.60 lakh), roads and buildings (Rs 826.25 lakh) and to water supply schemes (Rs 356.92 lakh). Mr Ahmed who visited the district said he had directed the officials to work out actual losses that have occurred to houses, crops, roads and other infrastructure. As per preliminary estimates 82 houses have been fully damaged and 430 partially, while 26,600 hectares of paddy and fruit crop were affected in the district, he said.

Fifteen units to be set up in Pulwama
Srinagar, September 7 The clearance for the units was given at the 14th district-level single-window clearance committee meeting today with District Development Commissioner Mehraj Ahmad Kakroo, officials said. These units will be set up on 2.4 hectares provided by the State Industrial Development Corporation (SIDCO) at industrial growth centre, Lassipora. The capital investment in these units is expected to be Rs 1,064 lakh. The power department has also given power availability certificate to these units.

Srinagar, September 7 The persons being provided assistance under the scheme included handicapped, destitute women and the elderly, an official spokesman said after a meeting chaired by Social Welfare secretary Asgar Samoon. He said around 3,334 handicapped are being paid Rs 300 per month under the scheme and the rest Rs 200 per month. The spokesman said Mr Samoon had directed the Budgam social welfare officer to furnish the latest position regarding payments which were being made through bank. He, later, inspected some Anganwadi centres and took stock of the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) being implemented in the district. The spokesman said nutrition stocks in sufficient quantity were available in ICDS centres and that 90 per cent of the Anganwadi centres under the expansion programme had been made functional. — PTI |
