Paswan rules out truck with Lalu

Patna, September 2
The LJP chief, Mr Ram Vilas Paswan, today ruled out any possible rapprochement with the RJD supremo Lalu Prasad in near future. Mr Paswan`s remarks came in the backdrop of the recent overtures made by Mr Lalu Prasad, stating that he had no objection to fight the coming byelections to Bhagalpur and Nalanda Lok Sabha seats together with the LJP.

Mr Lalu Prasad sought to befriend the estranged LJP chief as byelections to Nalanda and Bhagalpur were prestigious for the NDA because the seats were vacated by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi, respectively.

Besides, the byelections would also be the first public mandate for the NDA after it completed nine months in office.

Mr Paswan said Mr Lalu Prasad had sought his party's support on the issue of the recent spurt of atrocities on Dalits in Bihar on the floor of the Lok Sabha.” Since we shared his perception, we lent support and the matter ended there,” the LJP said before leaving for Delhi today.

Mr Paswan reiterated his party's resolve to maintain equal distance from both the RJD and the NDA.
