Fernandes has no regrets
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, August 27
NDA convener and former Janata Dal (United) president George Fernandes has no regrets of having given a deserving snub to his partymen by staying away from the two-day National Executive which concluded here today.

Talking to TNS here, Mr Fernandes contested the statement of party spokesperson Shambhu Srivastava that he was consulted on the date of the National Executive. “That is a lie. Nobody consulted me.

The JD (U) president Sharad Yadav came personally and informed me that they were having a meeting of the National Executive but he did not enquire if the dates suited me.”

Asked why he stayed away from the meeting, Mr Fernandes said, “For the same reasons that you have mentioned in your report today.”

Asked if he had some pressing engagement in Hyderabad on the opening day of the National Executive, the former JD(U) president said, “I have no regrets that I stayed away from the meeting.”
