50 feared killed in US plane crash

Washington, August 27
A Comair jet crashed today shortly after takeoff in Lexington, Kentucky, and all 50 persons on board were killed, according to preliminary reports, a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) spokeswoman said.

“Preliminary reports from first-responders was that there were 50 fatalities,” FAA spokeswoman Laura Brown said on CNN. She said there had been 47 passengers and three crew aboard the plane. — Reuters
