IAF probing identity of flying object
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, August 19
The Indian Air Force (IAF) has launched investigations to determine the identity of a flying object which almost came close to the International Border in Rajasthan sector forcing a scramble of main line fighter jets MiG-21s for a possible cross over by a jet from Pakistan.

A Ministry of Defence spokesman said the object which the Air Force had not been able to figure out, did not cross the international border, but did violate the 10 km no-fly zone. Quoting preliminary investigations into the incident which happened close to Suratgarh area in the Bikaner district of Rajasthan, the spokesman said, "IAF radar personnel saw a blip approaching close to the no-fly zone".

"The blip did not cross the International Border, but as a precautionary measure we scrambled our jets from the Suratgarh base to intercept the object that might have crossed into the Indian territory," the spokesman said.
