Bank strike on August 10 and 11
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, August 5
A two-day all-India strike by bank employees will be observed from August 10 to protest the failure of bank managements to address the grievances of the employees. “Since the same negative attitude continues, the unions are going ahead with their proposed two-day all-India strike action in the Central Bank of India on August 10 and 11,” said Mr C.H. Venkatachalam, general secretary of the All-India Central Bank Employees Federation.

He alleged that at a meeting held with the management and before the Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner in Mumbai on August 2, the unions had offered to work out an amicable solution but management did not come forward.

Mr Venkatachalam said bilateral policies and understandings were being bypassed and legitimate trade union rights were being denied and all conciliatory and reasonable proposals of the unions to find amicable solutions to the problems were being thwarted by the management.
