Motion on Mumbai blasts defeated
New Delhi, July 25
With the government rejecting the Opposition demand for revival of POTA to deal with terrorism, the adjournment motion on Mumbai blasts was defeated by a voice vote in the Lok Sabha as the BJP-led NDA staged a walkout.

Two key arrests in Mumbai blasts
Mumbai, July 25
The Mumbai police has arrested two key persons in connection with the Mumbai blasts. They have been identified as Suhail Sheikh and Jameer Ahmed. According to the police, both of them were members of a cell belonging to the Lashkar-e-Toiba. Sheikh is said to be a graduate from Pune while Jameer owns a small shop at Nagpada in central Mumbai.

Govt offers to withdraw Venugopal’s sack order

Dr P. VenugopalIn a volte face, the government today offered to withdraw the order for the removal of the AIIMS Director, Dr P. Venugopal, before the Delhi High Court which had declined to entertain its appeal against the single-judge Bench order granting interim stay on the termination of his service.

India, Pakistan Foreign Secretaries to meet in Dhaka
New Delhi, July 25
Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran will meet his Pakistani counterpart Riaz Mohammed Khan on the margins of SAARC Standing Committee in Dhaka on July 31 and August 1, but the talks will not be substantive.
