The Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Thursday overwhelmingly approved a Bill to amend U.S. laws and permit nuclear trade with India, which is not a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Nod to road network along China border

The Government of India today took a major policy decision with far-reaching strategic significance when the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) cleared the construction of a 608-km road network along the entire India-China border.

Punjab set to hike bus fares
Chandigarh, June 29
The Punjab Government is all set to marginally hike bus fares in the state. A high-powered committee of the government today decided on a hike in bus fares, however, it will have to be formally approved by the Punjab Council of Ministers.

The Jammu and Kashmir Governor, Lt-Gen S.K. Sinha (retd), has ordered a probe by a retired judge of the High Court into the allegations, inter alia, of tampering with the ice lingam of Lord Shiva in the holy cave of Amarnath.
