Sensex down by 461 points

Mumbai, June 8
The bear hammering of Sensex continued today with the benchmark index falling by a whopping 461 points to close at 9,296. In the broader markets, Nifty shed 4.8 per cent or 136 points to close at 2,724.

Today’s big losers were led by Tata Power, which fell 7.7 per cent or Rs 35. Tata Steel, Reliance Industries, HLL, Bharti Airtel, Dr Reddys Laboratories and Bajaj Auto were the other key losers.

Only a few stocks like ABB, Maruti Udyog, IPCL and Shipping Corporation of India managed to survive the mayhem. — TNS
