Sensex crashes by 268 points

Mumbai, April 25
The much-vaunted correction, following the breasting of the 12,000 mark, caused Sensex to lose 268 points today.

Large-scale profit booking by mutual funds, a hike in derivatives margin by the National Stock Exchange and the nearing of derivatives expiry of the April series, all contributed to the massive fall today.

After opening 28 points lower at 11,943, Sensex touched 11,953 before free falling to touch a low of 11,622 points. It went on to close at 11,647. — TNS
