Schoolchildren among 28 hurt in blasts

Srinagar, April 25
Some schoolchildren were among 28 persons injured in two explosions triggered by militants in Pulwama and Kupwara districts today.

While 20 persons, including the schoolchildren, were injured when the militants hurled a grenade on a security patrol at the Tral bus stand in Pulwama district around 3 pm. The grenade missed its target and exploded on the road.

The condition of four injured was stated to be serious and were shifted to Srinagar.

Sources said firing shots were heard soon after the blast. The gunshots were apparently fired by the troops in self-defence.

In another incident, a vehicle carrying eight civilians ran over a landmine at Warnav in the Lolab area of Kupwara district, injuring all of them.

No militant outfit has so far claimed responsibility for the explosions. — PTI
