Samrala
Baisakhi celebrated: Baisakhi was celebrated here on Friday with great pomp and show. All gurdwaras were decorated with lights. The SDM, Samrala, Mr Baldev Singh; the MLA, Mr Amrik Singh Dhillon; and Jathedar Kirpal Singh Kheernian appealed to the citizens to follow the footsteps of Guru Gobind Singh.

Riot victims given cheques: Twenty cheques of Rs 2 lakh each were distributed among 20 victims of the '84 riots by the SDM, Samrala, Mr Baldev Singh, here on Friday. He said this amount was received from the Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana after verification of the riot victims.
