Samana Bahu (Karnal), April 2
Supporters of the separate Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (HSGPC) to manage gurdwaras in Haryana blocked the GT road at several places this afternoon. They also criticised the Hooda government’s failure to constitute a separate body to manage the Sikh shrines in the state.

Supporters of the HSGPC (ad hoc) blocked GT Road at 12 noon at Samana Bahu (Karnal), Pipli (Kurukshetra) and near Shahbad for two hours. They also disrupted traffic at Hisar and Tohana in Fatehabad district, this afternoon.

Talking to The Tribune at Samana Bahu village Mr Jagdish Singh Jhinda, president of the HSGPC lamented the state government led by Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda was backtracking on the promise to constitute a body to manage gurdwaras in Haryana.

Mr Jhinda threatened to step up the agitation. Criticising the Congress leadership he said the party used as tool to get votes in the Assembly elections and now was going slow on the formation of the HSGPC to fulfil its election promise.

He said the state government was not even prepared to talk to them even when they staged dharna for 45 days on the issue outside the residence of state Cabinet Minister, H.S. Chatha.

Meanwhile, traffic blockade was lifted at 1.45 p.m. and the police diverted traffic from the nearby villages to the GT Road.
