New Delhi, March 5
Australian Prime Minister John Howard arrived on a five-day state visit to India today.
He will have talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh tomorrow. In the presence of the two Prime Ministers, a number of agreements will be signed, including an MoU on Customs cooperation, a Trade and Economic Framework, MoU on Defence Cooperation, an MoU on Cooperation in Biotechnology and a Letter of Intent on the India-Australia Strategic Research Fund.
During his visit to India, Mr Howard will visit Mumbai and Chennai apart from the stay in New Delhi. During the visit, Prime Minister John Howard will call on the President, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, and will be meeting the Commerce and Industry Minister, Mr Kamal Nath, Minister of State for External Affairs, Mr E Ahamed, and the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. L.K. Advani.
The Australian Prime Minister and his delegation will also attend a business summit organised by CII/
