Srinagar, March 5
A CRPF jawan was killed and 24 others were injured in separate grenade explosions at Khanyar here and at Pulwama today.
Four persons, including two security personnel, were killed in separate incidents in the state since yesterday.
The police here said that a CRPF jawan was killed and three others were injured when unidentified militants hurled a grenade at Sumkachabal, Khanyar, here this evening. The grenade, targeted at a bunker of the security forces, exploded at about 5 p.m., leading to injuries to four persons, including a Deputy Commandant, B.N. Mishra, a spokesman of the CRPF said. Later, Hawaldar G Kamath succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
At least 21 persons, including two securitymen and 19 pedestrians, were injured in a grenade explosion at Pulwama bus-stand, about 40 km south of here, today.
Unidentified militants shot dead one Muneer Ahmad Khan at a bus- stand in Bandipore in Baramulla district this afternoon. Two security forces personnel and a militant were killed in an encounter at Dehri Lalyote in the Manjakote sector of Rajouri district in the Jammu region this afternoon. A jawan was also injured in the encounter.
One militant of the Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit surrendered before the police and security forces at Poonch today and handed over one AK rifle, 90 rounds, three magazines, a hand grenade, one wireless set, a binocular, a diary and one letter pad of the Hizbul Mujahideen.
