Man poisons four kids to death, commits suicide
Our Correspondent

Jhajjar, March 5
A poverty stricken man committed suicide after poisoning his four children, including three girls, to death in the Modern Industrial Estate at Bahadurgarh here last night.

According to information available, Richhapal (38) served poison-mixed food to his son Manish (10) and daughters Dipali (8), Dipti (5) and Doli (3) and then, committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan.

Sources said he had been bringing up the children alone as his wife had died of a disease a couple of years back.

He had been rendered jobless after the factory in which he was employed closed down recently.

He was apparently under stress for some time as he was finding it tough to bring up his children after losing his job.

He hailed from Ita in Uttar Pradesh and had been residing here for the past two years in a rented accommodation.

Three of the children had been studying in a private school near here.

Mr Parmanand, a neighbour of the deceased, said Richhapal came to the house at about 7 pm yesterday and took his children, who were playing along with other children, to his room.

When they did not wake up this morning, a youth peeped in the room and found Richhapal hanging from the fan.

When the police broke open the doors of the room, the children were found lying dead on a bed.

The postmortem examination report confirmed that they died due to consumption of poison.

The police said relatives of the deceased had been informed about the deaths.
