Anti-Bush protest in Jammu
Our Correspondent

Jammu, March 2
Activists of the Jammu-based Duggar Pradesh Party, led by its Chairman Dev Raj Baru staged a demonstration against US President George Bush’s visit to India in front of the United Nations Military Observers Group (UNMOG) headquarters here today.

Carrying placards with anti-US and anti-Bush slogans, the workers submitted a memorandum to the UNMOG official, Capt Drazen Naglic of Croatia.

Captain Drazen told mediapersons that he had received the memorandum which he would forward to the General Assembly. He said he would also apprise the Assembly about the anti-US demonstrations that were held in Kashmir.

The party leaders demanded that the United Nations prevail upon Pakistan to “immediately vacate illegal occupation of the state’s territory”.

Mr Uday Chand, president of the party, said the USA must to give up double standards and stop supporting Pakistan which “is yet to dismantle terrorist camps on its soil. And from these very camps militants infiltrated into Jammu and Kashmir for kicking up subversive violence”.

Srinagar (UNI): Nearly 40 persons, including some police personnel, were injured when the police fired several rounds and burst teargas shells to disperse anti-Bush demonstrators in the Shia-dominated areas of central Kashmir district of Badgam on Thursday.
