4 teachers sacked on rape charge
Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, March 1
The Haryana Government today dismissed from service four teachers who were arrested and suspended for allegedly sexually exploiting girl students.

The teachers who have been sacked are Subhash Chander, Sanskrit teacher, Government Middle School, Sadewala, in Sirsa district; Rajesh Kumar, Hindi teacher, Government High School, Chudiala, in Ambala district; Rameshwar, physical training instructor, and Ram Kumar Punia, maths master, both of Government Senior Secondary School, Durjanpur, in Jind district.

The Haryana Commissioner-cum-Director-General, School Education, Mr K.K. Khandelwal, said these teachers had been dismissed following inquiries conducted by three teams deputed from the headquarters. It had been prima facie proved that the teachers had raped the victims, he added.

He said it was felt that these teachers deserved the severest punishment. Hence, their services had been terminated with immediate effect without holding any inquiry under Article 311(2) (b) of the Constitution.
