Judicial probe ordered into Bhagalpur riots

Patna, February 24
The Nitish Kumar-led NDA government in Bihar today ordered a judicial probe into the 1989 Bhagalpur riots which reportedly claimed over hundred lives and rendered thousands homeless. Following a crucial meeting of the state cabinet, the NDA government decided to write to the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court either to depute one sitting Judge or appoint a retired Judge to hold the probe. — TNS
