Akash test-fired

Hyderabad, January 28
Ahead of its production and induction by the armed forces, Akash, the surface-to-air missile was flight tested against a pilotless target aircraft Lakshya and its low body at 1230 hrs today from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur on Sea, about 1400 km from here.

The full complement of ground system consisting of surveillance radars, control centres, multifunction phased array weapon control radar (Rajendra) and mobile launchers were included in a comprehensive test configuration. Two missiles fitted with warheads were used in the test, DRDO said. — UNI
