HC not to negotiate with striking lawyers
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, January 24
The Delhi High Court administration has not initiated any move to negotiate with the striking Tis Hazari lawyers and stated that reports to this effect being fed to the media by agitating advocates had no truth as the “stalemate” was still continuing.

“The reports being fed to the media on this aspect by the striking lawyers was nothing but a misinformation campaign resorted to by them,” sources in the High Court said today.

Taking note of the media reports to this effect, attributed to some lawyers’ leaders, the sources said the “Full Court” resolution of January 10 condemning the strike and asking judicial officers to continue with the disposal of cases even if advocated did not appear and a subsequent resolution of January 21 by the court’s administrative committee, recommending strong action against them, continued to exist.

“There was no dilution in the stand of the High Court on this aspect,” they said, adding that the wide publicity in the media on the two resolutions had in fact a “positive effect” and the lawyers had refrained from going ahead with their so called threat to “locking up” the Tis Hazari court complex.
