Rahul wants larger role for young leaders

The Congress today witnessed the emergence of a new leader with the arrival of Rahul Gandhi on the political centre stage. The party's heir-apparent announced his arrival at the ongoing AICC plenary session with his first major speech which dwelt essentially on three points: strengthening the Congress in the Northern belt, assigning a larger role to younger leaders in party affairs. Amar Singh moves SC against telephone tapping

Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, has moved a fresh petition in the Supreme Court on the phone tapping issue by including four private operators apart from Reliance Infocomm as parties, while persisting with the blame against Congress President Sonia Gandhi that his phone was allegedly tapped at her instance.

The Maharashtra Government today suspended ‘encounter specialist’ Daya Nayak even as he obtained anticipatory bail. Nayak is being probed for holding assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
