Curfew in Morena after BSP leader’s murder
Bhopal, December 22
Curfew was imposed on Morena town today after activists of the Bahujan Samaj Party indulged in large-scale violence in protest against the murder of former state BSP President P.P. Chaudhari and his son last night. Joura, a tehsil of Morena district, was also brought under curfew.

BJP member gives dissenting note on Bansal panel report

The five-member panel, headed by Mr Pawan Kumar Bansal of the Congress, which probed the cash-for-questions scam in Parliament, has held by overwhelming majority that the continuance of the 10 Lok Sabha MPs caught on camera in a sting operation “will be untenable” and recommended that the “House may consider their expulsion”.

The five-member Pawan Kumar Bansal Committee held eight sittings in all before finalising its report and recommendations to Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee.

BJP for adopting ‘proper procedures’
New Delhi, December 22
Asserting that it was in favour of stern action against MPs caught demanding money for raising questions in Parliament in a television expose, the BJP said it would oppose the expulsion of 10 Lok Sabha Members as recommended by the House Committee, which probed the scam, if “proper procedures” were not followed.

LS may debate on report today
New Delhi, December 22
Although the BJP is pushing hard to delay any immediate decision on the Pawan Kumar Bansal report, indications are that the Lok Sabha may debate the issue tomorrow.

Armed men rape woman in train
Bhopal, December 22
A woman was allegedly raped in the Lucknow-bound Pushpak Express from Mumbai by a group of armed men, who also went on a looting spree and threw three passengers out of the train near Vidisha, around 60 km from here, the police said today.
