HC nod to RIL demerger

Mumbai, December 9
The Bombay High Court today approved the demerger of Reliance Industries Ltd. whereby the empire would be carved into separate groups under the control of Mukesh and Anil Ambani.

The court’s ruling came after an intervention petition by a minority shareholder in RIL was dismissed. Kalpesh Mankad, a shareholder, had contended that the demerger was akin to a family arrangement rather than a business separation. — TNS
