Even as India's Ambassador to Croatia Aneil Mathrani's explosive observations about Union Minister without Portoflio K Natwar Singh's role in the United Nations Oil for Food scam in Iraq provided necessary grist to the Opposition to put the UPA government on the mat in Parliament, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh told the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha "we are determined that truth must prevail in this matter and no one who is guilty will go unpunished."

Govt launches overseas citizenship scheme
New Delhi, December 2
The government today launched the Overseas Citizenship of India scheme for Indian diaspora abroad and the first OCI card will be given by the Prime Minister at the Pravasi Bharati Divas on January 7 in Hyderabad.

Sarna writes to Delhi govt for clarification
Amritsar, December 2
The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee’s imbroglio today took a new turn with its chief, Mr Paramjit Singh Sarna writing to the Delhi government and the Director Gurdwara Election Board to seek clarification for holding the executive committee election along with general elections of the DSGMC, scheduled to be held in July next year.

A former President of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, Mr Avtar Singh Hit, today said that Mr Paramjit Singh Sarna would be removed from the presidentship of the committee on December 19, the day a meeting of the general house of the committee had been convened to elect a new President.

Cops swoop on bus carrying 14 Hizb ultras
Jalandhar, December 2
The teams of district and Jammu and Kashmir police swooped down on a bus near here today and arrested 14 persons suspected of being associated with the Hizb-ul Mujahideen militant group.

The Bombay High Court today set aside designated TADA court order restricting interrogation of extradited gangster Abu Salem by only two officers of the Anti-Terrorist Squad of Mumbai police.
