A mela in America

For the past three decades, every year on the first Sunday of November, Sikhs from all over the USA converge on Yuba City, California, which reverberates with the spirit of sewa. A witness to the unique nagar kirtan, Asha and Ramesh Seth recount their experiences.

F all the sights my wife and I witnessed during our long trips to America, the annual nagar kirtan of Yuba City in California was unique.

They had a dream...and they realised it
Three IT engineers from the region have brought to fruition their vision of doing sewa for their community. Through Sahibzade, they have made available a slice of Sikh history to the younger generation, reports Aruti Nayar

ahibzade: A saga of Valor & Sacrifice’, the first of its kind depicting an event from Sikh history, leaves one spellbound. An animation film that portrays the events leading to the martyrdom of Guru Gobind Singh’s sons, Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh, the youngest martyrs in history, it was a labour of love for Navneet, Sukhwinder and Bakhtawar, three IT professionals from the region.

HE lush, green, meticulously manicured lawns of the India International Centre, the focal point of the glitterati of the Capital, recently came alive with painstakingly crafted bronze sculptors by the well-known artist, K. S. Radhakrishnan, The occasion was the unique exhibition of his creations which virtually converted the expansive lawns into an open air art gallery, much to the delight of both the regulars as well as chance visitors.

Precious Bazaar creates a buzz

recious Bazaar: Love is not for Sale" is a raunchy, daring piece of work that first saw the light of day a year ago in Britain. Now, it has been reworked by its creator, Samir Bhamra, from something that was originally quite light, into something altogether more hard-hitting and serious.

‘Punjabi Idol would be a different show’

HEN Indian Idol set Sony TV’s TRPs soaring, coming up of a couple of more similar shows on television was quite expected. Yet another music-based talent show was the reaction when we heard of auditions for Punjabi Idol, to be aired on Doordarshan.
