DESIGNERS are going ballistic this Divali and providing women with a plethora of fashion ideas to dress themselves up during the festive season. First on the list is Vikram Phadnis, whose collection was launched in Mumbai with Priyanka Chopra as the main model. Vikram, who has designed for stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, Bipasha Basu and several others, concentrated on pastel colours in all types of ensembles and embellished them with shimmer and dazzle. The ensembles flattered the female form like never before and made all the supermodels looks absolutely sizzling. The prominent colours were pink, baby blue, light peacock blue and sea green.

In contrast, the outfits designed by Alpa and Reena of Shivangi were darker and mystique laden. Top television actress and anchor Rakshanda Khan showed off several of the outfits from this duo. On display were a black saree with floral motifs in contrasting colours and zari and a black dress that looked gorgeous with peacock blue embroidery and zari.

Also stunning was the jewellery — Indian traditional with a touch of Gothic Renaissance art – was launched by Dubai-Mumbai based designer Farah. One necklace for instance boasted an emerald of 54 carats and carried a design of a tree of life on it. This collection literally looked regal in its style and attracted a huge number of women who are traditionally fond of jewellery.

The festive season – with so many designers offering so many new designs – promises to be colourful.
