Curfew in UP district; 3 dead
Tribune News Service

Lucknow, October 14
The peace of the festival season was rudely disrupted when sectarian violence broke out in Mau district leaving at least 3 dead, more than a dozen injured and 15 shops gutted. Indefinite curfew has been clamped in the town.

While Home Secretary Alok Sinha could not shed light on the cause of the violence, local residents confirmed that the incident started in Shahi Katara locality on Thursday night. The loud speakers being used during the Bharat Milap was reportedly causing disturbance to the ramzaan tarawwi prayers being held in the Jama Masjid nearby.
