Cricket board AGM put off for two months
Kolkata, September 23
The 76the annual general meeting (AGM) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was adjourned sine die here today. The Jagmohan Dalmiya group obtained an order of the Calcutta High Court for the cancellation of the appointment of two additional observers for the BCCI elections, Justice K.N. Sen and Justice M.M. Punchi.

The Supreme Court today issued notice to the Punjab Government and its various authorities on a petition by the Punjab State Human Rights Commission, which virtually has brought the panel in direct confrontation with the judiciary for allegedly interfering in the cases still pending trial in courts.

Settle Punjab liquor dispute case early, SC tells HC
New Delhi, September 23
The Supreme Court today directed the Punjab and Haryana High Court to dispose of a case pertaining to the Punjab liquor auction dispute as early as possible. The case pertained to the alleged prevention of a vendor from taking part in last year’s re-auction.

There is literally a “storm” blowing in the public sector carrier Indian Airlines over the improper outsourcing of pilots' training to an English firm when the same equipment (simulators) was also available with the airline at its academy at Hyderabad and now leading to a court case for the recovery of damages by the firm to which the job had been contracted and later withdrawn.
