Punjab offices, schools closed today

Chandigarh, September 20
The Punjab Government declared a closed day in all its offices, educational institutions, and offices of boards and corporations tomorrow as a mark of respect to Mr Surinder Kapoor, a former minister, who died at Bathinda today.

The closed day will not be a public holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act. He was 63 and is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.

Mr Kapoor had been minister of Power, Technical Education, Irrigation and Public Relations and Tourism & Cultural Affairs in the Beant Singh Cabinet. The cremation will take place tomorrow at Bathinda. — TNS
