Forensic experts give clean chit to Salman
Tribune News Service

Mumbai, September 16
Investigators have been unable to establish the authenticity of the Salman Khan tapes, transcripts of which were published in July last. The Forensic Science Laboratory at Chandigarh which carried out forensic analysis of the tape has informed that it was unable to match the original voices of Salman and Aishwarya Rai with those on the tapes, police officials said here today.

In the published transcripts of the tape, Salman was allegedly trying to bully Aishwarya into performing at a show organised by gangster Abu Salem. Salman also allegedly boasted that he was aware of the serial bomb blasts that rocked Mumbai in 1992.

The Maharashtra Government ordered a probe into the matter after the Opposition demanded the arrest of Salman. It is not clear from where a national daily obtained the transcript of the tape. The Mumbai police denied that it ever had the tape though the telephones of Salman and Aishwarya were tapped in 2001 when the conversation was allegedly recorded.

It was then said that a few police officials may have tapped Salman’s phones illegally and retained the same with themselves for ulterior motives.
