Security has been tightened across the Capital for British Prime Minister Tony Blair who arrived here tonight to attend the Indo-EU Summit tomorrow. The venue for the summit and Hotel Taj Mahal where Mr Blair and his wife, Cherie, are staying have been turned into virtual fortresses with police checkposts being set up around the venues.
Security in the diplomatic enclave has also been enhanced and prohibitory orders promulgated in the area.
With a letter purportedly from the Al-Qaeda threatening to blow up a railway station in Lucknow, security agencies took no chances and sanitised the hotel this evening.
The British Premier is on a three-day visit to India during which India and the European Union will establish a security dialogue on global and regional issues covering disarmament and non-proliferation. — PTI
