Patiala, September 3
In a bizarre incident, Bhupinder Singh, a resident of this district, hijacked a bus in which his wife was travelling, took her to his native village, shot her and then consumed poison late last evening.

Bhupinder Singh, who died at the local Government Rajindra Hospital, kidnapped his wife Sukhwinder Kaur when she was going back to her village Doduhan Sadah from Bhuner Heri village after taking medicine from a doctor.

Bhupinder Singh placed his revolver on the temple of the bus driver and asked him to take the same to his village Ganeshpur.

After reaching Ganeshpur, he forced her wife to come down from the bus and took her to a house in the village where he shot her twice.

Later, he consumed celphos tablets.

Bhupinder Singh and his wife, who were facing divorce proceedings in court, were taken to government Rajindra Hospital, separately.

While Sukhwinder Kaur, who has a six-month-old daughter, has survived, Bhupinder Singh died late night.

Sukhwinder Kaur suffered two bullet injuries.
