private vehicles damaged as Haryana bandh evokes mixed
response
Panchkula,

Tremors of the Gohana
incident were felt in the township this morning when
unruly mobs brandishing swords and lathis, wreaked havoc
on the roads. A bus full of passengers was torched, with
the passengers barely being able to get down to safety.
Scores of other government and private vehicles were
damaged by the arsonists, though no loss of life was
reported.

the meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and
President Pervez Musharraf in New York on September 14,
India and Pakistan today announced a slew of measures to
promote people-to-people contacts, including starting a
truck service for trade on the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad route.

reports silent on horse-trading

Bihar Governor Buta Singh’s two
controversial reports that led to the dissolution of the state Assembly,
submitted to the Supreme Court today, were virtually silent on the
purported “horse trading”, which was cited as the main reason for
dissolving the House by the Centre.

to be permanent venue for film fests

An MoU has been signed between the
Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF) and the Goa Government to make Goa
the permanent venue for the International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
Making Goa a permanent venue for the IFFI is expected to help in
branding the festival globally and promoting Goa as a tourist
destination.
