11 killed in road mishaps in Rohtak

Rohtak, August 26
Eleven persons, including four members of a family, were killed in three different road accidents in the district today, the police said.

Six persons, including two women, hailing from Bulandshahar district in Uttar Pradesh, were killed and five others were injured in a collision between a bus and a jeep on National Highway No. 10, about 5 km from here, the police said.

The deceased were identified as R.P. Singh, his wife Sudha, their daughter Khusbhu and son Amit, their relative Jeewan Dass and the driver of the ill-fated jeep who is yet to be identified.

The injured were hospitalised.

The accident took place when a bus carrying pilgrims from Bulandshahar to Gugamari in Rajasthan and a jeep with 11 persons returning from Gugamari to Bulandshahar after attending a religious congregation collided head-on on the outskirts of Rohtak city.

In a separate mishap on the Rohtak-Panipat road, about 5 Km from here, four persons were killed and as many were injured in a collision between a jeep and an autorickshaw, the police said.

The dead were identified as jeep driver Mukesh and rickshaw occupants Santram of Bahu Akbarpur, Rajbir of Girawar and Virender of Jassia.

Meanwhile, in yet another road mishap, car driver Ajit of Balambha village was killed and two others were injured when their vehicle was hit by a vehicle near Kharkara village on the National Highway No 10, the police said. — PTI
