160 killed in Venezuela air crash

Bagota, Colombia, August 16
All 152 passengers and eight crew members on board the West Caribbean McDonnell Douglas MD-82 airliner died when it crashed in Venezuela today, the Colombian airline said in a news release.

The plane was flying from Panama to Martinique, the authorities said.

“All passengers are from Martinique. The 160 are dead,” a spokeswoman for the DGAC civil aviation authority said.

Earlier, officials said 152 passengers and crew were aboard the flight. — Reuters
