Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee today said logistic infrastructure of terrorist training camps in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir was intact and infiltration from across the border had increased in the past two months.

Replying to queries, Mr Mukherjee there were no reports of Pakistan having reduced its troops along the borders. To a question about Pakistan accepting the presence of training camps, the minister said no country accepts it is providing support to cross-border terrorism. “On the basis of information we have, I have stated there are training camps,” he said.

Mr Mukherjee said terrorism could not be switched on and switched off. “When passes clear after snow melts, infiltration steps up,” he said. Mr Mukherjee said India is impressing on Pakistan that it should stick to its January 2004 commitment to not allow territory under its control to be used for terrorist activity against India.
