One arrested, Al-Qaida-linked group owns responsibility for UK blasts
London, July 22
The police today shot dead a suspected suicide bomber at a tube station in South London as it hunted four would-be attackers, a day after the British Capital was hit by a second wave of bombings in two weeks for which an al-Qaida- linked group claimed responsibility. Death knell rings for aided schools
Chandigarh, July 22
The death knell has started ringing for nearly 430 government-aided recognised private schools in urban areas having about three lakh students as the Punjab Finance Department has directed the Education Department to phase out 95 per cent grant-in-aid to these schools.

Revaluate 21 PMET questions, CBSE told

The Punjab and Haryana High Court today asked the Central Board of Secondary Education to constitute a high-powered committee of experts to revaluate the 21 controversial questions that were part of the PMET 2005 examination conducted by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.
