Manmohan Singh today gave clear signals of the bipartisan
character of the Indian nuclear doctrine, released by the
previous NDA government, and said India was a responsible
nuclear power which had declared no-first-use policy.

The Army and the Air Force have come out in full strength
to assist the civil administrations in Gujarat and
Himachal Pradesh and have rescued more than 600 persons in
the two states where the flood situation continues to be
grim.

residents of this village this morning, killing two of

to discuss national transport policy

A national urban
transport policy seeking to promote use of public
transport over private vehicles will be placed for
approval before the Union Cabinet this month. Union Urban
Development Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said the policy
envisages building mass transport systems for all cities
with a population of more than 10 lakhs.
