New Delhi, June 22
Pre-monsoon showers and moisture in the air today brought some relief to areas reeling under intense heat wave condition in Orissa, Bihar, Jharkhand and east Utter Pradesh.
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) Director (Operations) S.C. Bhan, the heat wave persisting in Chattisgarh, Vidharbha and eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh was also likely to subside in a day or two.
The monsoon remained at the northern limit of Nalliya and Surat in Gujarat, Sholapur in central Maharashtra, Gannavaram in Andhra Pradesh, Gopalpur in coastal Orissa and Bhagalpur in Bihar and Kolkotta, where it touched yesterday.
The monsoon appeared to be now in good shape with most regions receiving good rains, some even more than 20 cms, Dr Bhan said.
Meanwhile, people in Delhi and neighbouring areas continued to feel uncomfortable with high temperatures coupled with humidity adding to their miseries. Dust storms, followed by localised thundershowers, are likely to occur in the next two to three days.
